Soccer Game Preview: Long vs. Carroll

Long hasn't had much luck against Carroll recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Long will head out to challenge Carroll at 5:30 p.m. Long has given up an average of 4.2 goals per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Long came up short against Providence Christian on Saturday, falling 8-1. Things were pretty much settled by the half as Long were already down 4-1.

Their goal came courtesy of Bea Anderson, who's now up to ten this season.

Meanwhile, Carroll entered their tilt with Ariton two weeks ago with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their defense stepped up to hand the Purple Cats a 9-0 shutout. Considering Carroll have won eight matchups by more than three goals this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Carroll's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three games. As for Long, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6-3.

Long suffered a grim 7-2 defeat to Carroll when the teams last played back in February. Can Long avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
