Volleyball Recap: Great Crossing Warhawks vs. Scott County Cardinals
After flying high against West Jessamine on Thursday, Great Crossing came back down to earth. The Warhawks fell just short of the Scott County Cardinals by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Warhawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 2-0.
Great Crossing wouldn't go down easily and took Scott County into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-23, 27-29, 23-25, 15-10.
Kinsley VanGuilder paced Great Crossing's offense, picking up 14 kills. VanGuilder got some help from Brooklyn Walls and her 27 assists. Erin Thomas controlled things from the service line, finishing with five aces.
Great Crossing dropped their record down to 20-12 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Scott County, their victory bumped their record up to 17-14.
Great Crossing has already played their next contest (against Bryan Station), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Scott County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 3-1 win against George Rogers Clark on the 14th.
