Baseball Recap: Enka Takes a Loss

Enka had lost seven straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 6-16 to make it eight. They lost 11-1 to the North Buncombe Black Hawks. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Black Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Tuesday.

As for North Buncombe, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-13. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

For North Buncombe's part, Matthew Ledford spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. Ledford has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kameron Keenan, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for North Buncombe: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Boone Gosnell, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

As of now, neither Enka nor North Buncombe have any future games scheduled.
