Softball Recap: Ferris Yellowjackets vs. Lamar Vikings
Ferris won the last time they faced Lamar and things went their way on Saturday too. The Ferris Yellowjackets put the hurt on the Lamar Vikings with a sharp 14-3 victory.
Landri Davis was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Davis was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Madeline Welling was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Valorie Carrillo was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Ferris always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .520. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in four consecutive games.
Ferris' record is now 6-7-2. As for Lamar, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.
Coming up, Ferris will head out on the road to square off against Life Waxahachie at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Life Waxahachie has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.5 runs per game on average), something Ferris will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lamar, they will head out to challenge Martin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lamar has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
