Basketball Recap: Isaiah Marino's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Detroit Country Day over Everest Collegiate

Detroit Country Day was the 61-46 winner over Everest Collegiate when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Detroit Country Day Yellowjackets took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Everest Collegiate on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Yellowjackets have lost by exactly eight points.

Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Marino, who went 8-for-14 to rack up 16 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kordell Robinson, who posted 14 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Detroit Country Day and nudges their season record down to 11-11. As for Everest Collegiate, their win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1.

Detroit Country Day has already played their next contest, a 69-63 loss against Pontiac on the 26th. As for Everest Collegiate, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-39 victory against Pontiac Academy for Excellence on the 24th.
