St. John has gone 9-1 against DeMatha recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Cadets will be playing at home against the Stags at 4:30 p.m.

St. John's is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another highly-ranked state team: Paul VI, who was ranked ninth in their home state at the time (St. John's was ranked 18th). The Cadets took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers on Friday. The Cadets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, DeMatha sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over St. Mary's Ryken on Tuesday. The Stags haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

DeMatha got a great performance from Grayson Candy as he tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The Stags are undefeated when Candy allows three or fewer earned runs, but 3-5 otherwise.

On the hitting side, DeMatha saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Perlin, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that Perlin has hit this season.

St. John's loss dropped their record down to 4-3-1. As for DeMatha, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

St. John's got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against DeMatha by a conclusive 9-1 score. Will the Cadets repeat their success, or do the Stags have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
