Softball Recap: Andalusia Extends Winning Streak to Five

Andalusia waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the Trinity Presbyterian Wildcats. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bulldogs also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2021.

Kailey Jackson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, SK Reese and Taya Newton did most of the damage at the plate: Reese went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Newton went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Newton is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Jessa Dubose was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Andalusia hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Andalusia pushed their record up to 27-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Trinity Presbyterian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

Andalusia does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Trinity Presbyterian, they will face off against Alabama Christian Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
