Soccer Game Preview: Astronaut vs. East River

The Astronaut War Eagles will venture away from home to take on the East River Falcons at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Astronaut fell victim to Rockledge and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders.

Meanwhile, East River also failed to score in their most recent game. They lost 7-0 to Melbourne Central Catholic last Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 389th, while the Hustlers are ranked 184th).

This is the second loss in a row for East River and nudges their season record down to 5-9-1. As for Astronaut, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7-1.

Astronaut took their victory against East River when the teams last played back in December of 2022 by a conclusive 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Astronaut since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
