Softball Recap: Ivanna Febres Soler Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Evans

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Colonial brought some dynamite into their most recent match. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Evans Trojans a 15-0 shutout on Thursday. The Grenadiers haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jayla Clough made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Clough was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Colonial got a massive performance out of Ivanna Febres Soler, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those five RBI gave Febres Soler a new career-high. Montana Ashe was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-3.

Colonial lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Colonial's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Evans, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Looking ahead, Colonial will challenge Cypress Creek at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Grenadiers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Evans, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Central Florida Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.43 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
