Baseball Recap: Gray's Creek Sets Scoring Season-High Against Purnell Swett

After losing to Purnell Swett the last time they met, Gray's Creek decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Gray's Creek Bears walked away with a 15-10 victory over the Purnell Swett Rams on Tuesday. The Bears' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Davis Reed made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances. That stolen base marked the first that he snagged this season.

In other batting news, Grayson Hulen was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Those runs marked the first that he scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalton Williams, who went 1-for-4 with four RBI and one run.

Gray's Creek's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Purnell Swett, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Gray's Creek will head out to take on Seventy-First at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Purnell Swett, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against North Brunswick at 6:30 p.m.
