Golden Valley hadn't done well against El Capitan recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Golden Valley Cougars walked away with a 66-58 win over the El Capitan Gauchos. The victory was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on five straight.

El Capitan lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Braylen Centeno, who went 10-for-19 to rack up 19 points. Elias Ruiz was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 12 boards.

Golden Valley's win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 21-6. As for El Capitan, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 16-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Golden Valley will face off against Merced at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Merced knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Golden Valley likes a good challenge. As for El Capitan, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Los Banos at 7:15 p.m.
