Soccer Game Preview: North Polk vs. Van Meter

The North Polk Comets will head out on the road to face off against the Van Meter Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as North Polk comes in on three and Van Meter on 11.

North Polk's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They came out on top against Carlisle by a score of 2-0. That's two games straight that North Polk have won by exactly two goals.

Seven must be Van Meter's lucky number: they beat Colo-NESCO with that score not once but twice on Tuesday. The Bulldogs blew past the Royals 7-2. The result was nothing new for Van Meter, who have now won six matchups by four goals or more so far this season.

Van Meter pushed their record up to 13-1-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 30 goals over those five contests. As for North Polk, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0-4.

North Polk came out on top in a nail-biter against Van Meter in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
