Volleyball Recap: Harlandale Comes Up Short

Harlandale lost against Laredo LBJ back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Indians fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 2-1.

Harlandale actually scored more points across those three sets (70-66), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 26-24, 15-25, 25-21.

Miria Barrientoz paced Harlandale's offense, picking up eight kills. Barrientoz got some help from Jenna Sandoval and her 21 assists. Sandoval also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Mia Martinez, racking up three apiece.

Leading Laredo LBJ to victory were Marielle Gonzalez and Mariana Baeza. Gonzalez had 16 digs, ten kills, and two blocks, while Baeza had 15 assists and 13 digs. Another player making a difference was Sofia Trevino, who had nine digs and one assist.

Harlandale's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Laredo LBJ, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Harlandale didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Jay on the 16th. As for Laredo LBJ, they have also already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against South San Antonio on the 16th.
