Baseball Recap: Philip Barbour Has No Trouble Against East Fairmont

Philip Barbour made up a huge gap compared to their last game against East Fairmont, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Philip Barbour put the hurt on East Fairmont with a sharp 14-1 win on Tuesday. The Colts not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25, 2024.

Grant Harris made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Landyn Carpenter was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Slaton Harris, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Philip Barbour has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 10.0 runs this season. As for East Fairmont, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Philip Barbour will square off against Ritchie County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Philip Barbour is facing Ritchie County at the right time seeing as Ritchie County is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for East Fairmont, they will face off against Lincoln at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
