Baseball Recap: Mark Twain Victorious

After low-scoring totals in their previous three game, Mark Twain brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. They came out on top against Wellsville-Middletown on Thursday by a score of 10-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). Mark Twain not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since April 25, 2024 (when they won 15-3).

Nolan Epperson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 17 over 5.2 innings pitched. Those 17 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Brayden Moss, who went 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. JR Henderson also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Mark Twain's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-12. As for Wellsville-Middletown, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Mark Twain will host Highland at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wellsville-Middletown, they will head out on the road to face off against Montgomery County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
