Football Recap: Cardinal Newman Takes a Loss

Cardinal Newman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Palm Beach Lakes Rams. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Crusaders came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 141st, while the Rams are ranked 316th).

Jalyn Escobar threw for 154 yards and one touchdown. Afife George was her top target, picking up 53 receiving yards.

Cardinal Newman now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Palm Beach Lakes, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-10.

Coming up, Cardinal Newman will challenge Leonard at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Palm Beach Lakes does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
