After a string of four wins, El Segundo's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They came up short against the Redondo Union Sea Hawks, falling 4-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Sea Hawks are ranked 96th).

Having lost for the first time this season, El Segundo fell to 8-1-1. As for Redondo Union, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

When El Segundo and Redondo Union next hit the pitch, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. El Segundo will try to stop Mira Costa's three-game winning streak when the meet at 3:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Meanwhile, Redondo Union will challenge Palos Verdes and their eight-game winning streak at 12:30 p.m. on Monday.
