Basketball Recap: Covenant Classical Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lake Country Christian

Covenant Classical extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-5. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 67-64 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lake Country Christian Eagles. On the bright side, the 64- point performance marked the Cavaliers' highest-scoring contest to date.

Covenant Classical lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ellis Mitchell, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Noah Leshner also deserves some recognition as he posted his first blocks of the season.

As for Lake Country Christian, the win got them back to even at 3-3. They haven't had any issues with Covenant Classical recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Lake Country Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Caleb Stump, who went 7-for-15 to rack up 16 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. Stump has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben McElyea, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Covenant Classical has already played their next matchup, a 62-36 win against Valley View on the 15th. As for Lake Country Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-40 victory against Prince of Peace on the 15th.
