Basketball Game Preview: Carlisle Thundering Herd vs. Downingtown West Whippets

The Carlisle Thundering Herd will head out to take on the Downingtown West Whippets at 2:00 p.m. on Monday.

Carlisle easily dispatched Cumberland Valley on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Carlisle fell just short of Central Dauphin by a score of 35-33 on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Thundering Herd can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Rams are ranked 14th).

Meanwhile, Downingtown West came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 52-41 win over the Warriors.

Downingtown West pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Carlisle, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
