After flying high against Lumberton last Tuesday, Bridge City came back down to earth. The Bridge City Cardinals received a blow on Friday as they fell 72-55 to the Silsbee Tigers. The Cardinals' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Leading Silsbee to victory were Troy Rice and Payton Jones. Rice dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds, while Jones went 9 of 17 on his way to 25 points. The contest was Jones' 14th in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Quinton Shoulders, who went 5 for 10 en route to 13 points.

Bridge City's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 21-10. As for Silsbee, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-13.

Bridge City and Silsbee should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Bridge City will take on Jasper at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday up 799 places (395 vs. 1194). Bridge City is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, Silsbee (ranked 286th) will meet Little Cypress-Mauriceville (ranked 789th) at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
