Basketball Recap: Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Now 3-1 over Last Four Games

The Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Spartans earned a 64-54 win over the South Central Falcons on Saturday.

Ashlyn Hudson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 23 points and 12 boards. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Jakayla Palmer, who posted 14 points and five steals.

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 18 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Despite the loss, South Central saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jazmine Farrington scored 21 points and eight rebounds. Kaelyn McCarter was another key player, putting up ten points.

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.5 points over those games. As for South Central, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southern School of Energy and Sustainability will challenge GRACE Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Central, they will host Rocky Mount at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
