Baseball Recap: Coosa Christian Comes Up Short

Coosa Christian managed to slip by Appalachian the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Conquerors lost 11-2 to the Eagles on Thursday. The Conquerors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 4-3.

Brody Nelson and Angelo Alberghina stepped up to the plate in a big way. Nelson scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Alberghina scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Cameron Robertson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.

Coosa Christian's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Appalachian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.

Coosa Christian will challenge North Sand Mountain on Saturday. The Conquerors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bison have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Appalachian, they will take on Sand Rock at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
