Softball Game Preview: St. Ignace Saints vs. Manistique Emeralds

The St. Ignace Saints will square off against the Manistique Emeralds at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Ignace has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

St. Ignace blew Newberry out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Newberry got their revenge. The Saints fell just short of the Indians by a score of 15-13. On the bright side, the 13- run performance marked the Saints' highest-scoring match to date.

Maggie Massey led a balanced group of hitters, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Katie Halberg was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Meanwhile, Manistique was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Rudyard, falling 18-3.

Manistique saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryleigh Rice, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Manistique's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for St. Ignace, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
