Football Game Preview: Armstrong River Hawks vs. Kiski Area Cavaliers

The Armstrong River Hawks will head out to face off against the Kiski Area Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Armstrong has given up an average of 34 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Armstrong came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against Woodland Hills, falling 50-14. While losing is never fun, the River Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 202nd, while the Wolverines are ranked 29th).

Although Armstrong took the loss, they still got scores from Max Zablocki and Costa Couknas.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kiski Area). They blew past Greater Latrobe 34-13 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Cavaliers in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

Armstrong better keep an eye on Landyn Artman. He was instrumental in Kiski Area's win, throwing for 191 yards and four TDs on only 11 passes. The dominant performance also gave Artman a new career-high in passer rating (146.8).

Kiski Area's victory bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Armstrong, they now also have a losing record of 3-4.

Armstrong came up short against Kiski Area when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 21-14. Can the River Hawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
