Basketball Recap: Needville Comes Up Short

Needville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They were beaten by the Brazosport Exporters 77-19. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bluejays this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-25 back in December of 2024.

Brazosport's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deja El-Amin led the charge by dropping a triple-double on 22 points, ten rebounds, and 12 steals. El-Amin's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Eshanti Green, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten steals.

Needville's defeat dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Brazosport, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Needville will venture away from home to take on Sweeny at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Needville is facing Sweeny at the right time seeing as Sweeny is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Brazosport, they will host Bay City at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Brazosport sitting on three straight wins and Bay City on five.
