Football Recap: Gustine Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Gustine was the 34-25 winner over Mariposa County when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Reds took a 22-16 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Grizzlies on Friday. The Reds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Gustine saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Avery Etheridge rushed for 117 yards. Etheridge also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making eight total tackles.

Gustine now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Mariposa County, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gustine will challenge Denair at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Reds will need to watch out since the Coyotes have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests. As for Mariposa County, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Modesto Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Grizzlies will be up against the Crusaders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 40.6 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
