Basketball Game Preview: Marietta Blue Devils vs. Etowah Eagles

Two dominant guards in Leah DeWitt and Savannah Aparicio are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Marietta Blue Devils will be playing in front of their home fans against the Etowah Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marietta is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.6 points per game this season.

Marietta is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since February 9, 2024 on Tuesday. They came up short against North Paulding, falling 83-57. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Wolfpack recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Marietta saw an underclassman step up: freshman DeWitt went 10 for 23 on her way to 29 points and three steals. The game was DeWitt's 23rd in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kyann Senior, who posted 15 points in addition to eight boards and three steals.

Etowah has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 47-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Paulding on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Wolfpack are ranked second).

Marietta's loss dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Etowah, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-6.
