Baseball Game Preview: Foothill Trojans vs. Del Oro Suns

For the second straight game, Foothill will face off against Del Oro. The Trojans will take on the Suns at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Foothill has seven straight wins, Del Oro has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Foothill's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Del Oro 11-0. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Joaquin Carrillo made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Foothill got a massive performance out of Marcos Carbajal, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Carlos Ruano was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Foothill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in five consecutive games.

Foothill pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Del Oro, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.
