The Lafayette Central Catholic Knights will venture away from home to challenge the Seeger Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lafayette Central Catholic has given up an average of 35.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Lafayette Central Catholic managed to slip by Guerin Catholic the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Knights were dealt a 59-28 loss at the hands of the Golden Eagles on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana football rankings (they are ranked 239th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 100th).
Meanwhile, Seeger waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Falcons, posting a 49-13 victory. The Patriots' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Lafayette Central Catholic better keep an eye on Tucker Herndon. He was instrumental in Seeger's win, rushing for 155 yards and three TDs on only eight carries. Herndon's longest rush was for an impressive 61 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Austin Thomas was another key player, picking up 57 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Seeger was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 241 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 160 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Seeger didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Thomas, Aiden Handy, and Peyton Grimmett picked up one apiece.
Lafayette Central Catholic dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Seeger, their record now sits at 8-1.
Lafayette Central Catholic ended up a good deal behind Seeger when the teams last played back in August, losing 31-13. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Herndon, who rushed for 169 yards and one score while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. Now that the Knights know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
