Softball Recap: Southlands Christian Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Southlands Christian entered their tilt with Ocean View on Saturday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Ocean View Seahawks by a score of 6-3.

Natalia Bargas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on five hits and racked up ten Ks. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Southlands Christian's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Southlands Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Southlands Christian pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 13.75 hits in those games compared to only five in the others. As for Ocean View, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Looking ahead, Southlands Christian will be taking part in a tournament against Oxford Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Oxford Academy knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Southlands Christian likes a good challenge. As for Ocean View, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Trabuco Hills at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
