Softball Recap: Manchester Beats Labrae for Their Seventh Straight Win

It's playoff time, and Manchester had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the LaBrae Vikings on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Rachel Baker's shutout, as she gave up just five hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Alli Hodgkinson was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Leah Page, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Manchester was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as LaBrae only posted a batting average of .185.

The victory was the seventh in a row for Manchester, bringing their record up to 24-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for LaBrae, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-7.

Coming up, Manchester will face off against South Range at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Raiders' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. LaBrae does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
