Football Recap: Ramsay Skates Past Minor with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ramsay). They blew past the Minor Tigers 56-26 on Friday. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Ramsay had a senior duo take command as Jordan Smith rushed for 140 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.4 yards per carry and Jayden Martin rushed for 101 yards and three scores. Martin is becoming a predictor of the Rams' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 2-1 (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Pierce Deuce Alexander was another key player, picking up 89 receiving yards and one TD.

Minor's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic White, who picked up 175 receiving yards and one score. With that strong performance, White is now averaging an impressive 105.2 receiving yards per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommie Burts, who threw for 317 yards and three touchdowns.

The win got Ramsay back to even at 3-3. As for Minor, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Ramsay will challenge Hayden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will be up against the Wildcats' rather soft defense (which has allowed 44.17 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Minor, they will square off against Mortimer Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
