Basketball Game Preview: Alcester-Hudson Cubs vs. Scotland/Menno Trappers

The Alcester-Hudson Cubs will take on the Scotland/Menno Trappers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Alcester-Hudson is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Akron-Westfield by a score of 66-58 on Thursday. Given the Cubs' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 97th in South Dakota, while the Westerners are ranked 271st in Iowa), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Scotland/Menno had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They skirted past Andes Central/Dakota Christian 67-65.

Scotland/Menno's win came from a few key players Alcester-Hudson will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Ashton Dennis, who went 5 for 12 en route to 18 points and five boards. Another player making a difference was Izayah Ulmer, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 16 points and four steals.

Scotland/Menno's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-6. As for Alcester-Hudson, their win bumped their record up to 6-3.
