Narraguagus had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Woodland Dragons a 17-0 shutout on Thursday. This was payback for the Knights, who suffered a 4-1 loss the last time these two teams met.
Natalie Stanwood made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Stanwood was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Paidyn Cashman and Lola Worcester did most of the damage at the plate: Cashman got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI, while Worcester got on base in three of her four plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Cashman has posted since back in May of 2024. Erica Rackliff was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Looking ahead, Narraguagus will take on Mount Desert Island at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Woodland, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Jonesport-Beals at 4:00 p.m. on the 28th.
