Basketball Recap: Stevens Takes a Loss

Stevens lost against Brennan back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Stevens Falcons were beaten by the Brennan Bears 89-51. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 378th, while the Bears are ranked fourth).

When it comes to explaining why Stevens lost, don't look at Zane Schunior. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave Schunior a new career-high in shooting accuracy (80%). Another player making a difference was Batista Hernandez, who had ten points.

Brennan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Camden Cowgill, who went 9-for-17 en route to 26 points and six rebounds. Kingston Flemings was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with 17 points and nine assists.

Stevens is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-16. As for Brennan, the victory (which was their 16th in a row) raised their record to 27-2.

Stevens has already played their next contest, a 55-46 loss against O'Connor on the 8th. As for Brennan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 94-22 win against Taft on the 8th.
