Basketball Game Preview: Wekiva Mustangs vs. Bishop Moore Hornets

The Wekiva Mustangs will square off against the Bishop Moore Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Last Monday, Wekiva ended up a good deal behind Lake Highland Prep and lost 47-30. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Highlanders are ranked 81st).

Despite their loss, Wekiva saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Tiana Washington, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Julissa Miles, who posted four points.

Meanwhile, everything went Bishop Moore's way against Melbourne on Tuesday as Bishop Moore made off with a 68-45 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Bishop Moore pushed their record up to 8-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Wekiva, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Wekiva ended up a good deal behind Bishop Moore in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, losing 57-40. Can Wekiva avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
