Softball Game Preview: National Trail Blazers vs. Coldwater Cavaliers

The National Trail Blazers will head out on the road to challenge the Coldwater Cavaliers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Coldwater took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on National Trail, who comes in off a win.

National Trail had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Legacy Christian Academy on Thursday. The Blazers never let the Knights get on the board and left with a 13-0 victory. The Blazers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Morgan House made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). House was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Taylor Reynolds was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI were her first of the season. Eva Swartsell was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

National Trail always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Coldwater lost 19-2 to Ayersville on Tuesday.

National Trail's record now sits at 2-3. As for Coldwater, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

National Trail came up short against Coldwater when the teams last played back in April of 2023, falling 6-1. Can the Blazers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
