Recap: Marist RedHawks vs. Niles Notre Dame Dons
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Marist RedHawks had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They blew past Niles Notre Dame 34-0 at home. The victory was nothing new for Marist as they're now sitting on five straight.
John McAuliffe was his usual excellent self, rushing for 128 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Winters, who rushed for 49 yards and a touchdown.
Marist's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-5. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29.67 points. As for Niles Notre Dame, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Marist will head out on the road to face off against St. Rita at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (St. Rita is ranked 16th, while Marist is ranked 30th). Niles Notre Dame does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
