Basketball Recap: North Moore Mustangs vs. Southeast Alamance Stallions
North Moore lost against Southeast Alamance back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The North Moore Mustangs were outmatched by the Southeast Alamance Stallions and fell 80-48. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 555th, while the Stallions are ranked 116th).
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Brady Preslar, who went 7-for-15 en route to 19 points. That was a full 39.6% of North Moore's points, marking the fourth time in a row Preslar has posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Colby Pennington, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards.
Southeast Alamance was led to victory by James Kenan and Cardell West. Kenan had 13 points along with eight assists and five steals, while West went 6-for-10 on his way to 13 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. West has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Mcadoo, who earned 12 points and three steals.
North Moore has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 14 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 5-16 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points over those games. As for Southeast Alamance, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.
North Moore wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 66-60 loss against Chatham Central on the 14th. As for Southeast Alamance, they have also already played their next game, a 74-39 victory against Cummings on the 14th.
