Softball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Dobie's Third in Last Four Outings

Dobie was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against South Houston on Tuesday. The Longhorns' pitchers stepped up to hand the Trojans a 21-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Longhorns, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

The team relied heavily on Alexis Martinez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Chloye Matthews was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Dobie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .667. They are 10-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Dobie is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-10 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games.
