Preview: Eastern Randolph Wildcats vs. Trinity Bulldogs
Eastern Randolph is on a six-game streak of home losses (dating back to last season), Trinity an 11-game streak of away losses (dating back to last season), but someone's luck is about to change. The Eastern Randolph Wildcats will take on the Trinity Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Eastern Randolph's 19-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They fell to Uwharrie Charter 46-42.
Kenly Whitaker put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 15 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ziera Watson, who scored six points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Trinity suffered their biggest loss since December 8, 2023 on Wednesday. They were outmatched by Providence Grove on the road and fell 62-12. While losing is never fun, Trinity can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 547th, while Providence Grove is ranked 273rd).
Eastern Randolph's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Trinity, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-16.
Everything came up roses for Eastern Randolph against Trinity in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 72-39 win. Does Eastern Randolph have another victory up their sleeve, or will Trinity turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
