Volleyball Game Preview: Layton Lancers vs. Corner Canyon Chargers

After both having extra time off, the Layton Lancers and the Corner Canyon Chargers will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Layton turned things around against Farmington on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Phoenix by a score of 3-1.

Layton had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 23-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Corner Canyon faced Syracuse in a battle between two of the state's top teams last Thursday. The Chargers blew past the Titans 3-0. The win continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won four in a row.

Corner Canyon not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Syracuse between 17 and 20 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-20, 25-17.

Corner Canyon's win came from a few key players Layton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Player #10, who had nine digs and two assists.

Corner Canyon's victory bumped their record up to 21-6. As for Layton, the win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 9-19.
