Baseball Recap: Ketchikan Has No Trouble Against Chugiak

The Ketchikan Kings got the win against the Chugiak Mustangs on Saturday by a conclusive 9-1.

Hayden Trudeau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits.

On the hitting side, Jonathan Scoblic was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Ketchikan's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 2-5-1 when he doesn't). Owen Mendoza was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

Ketchikan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Ketchikan's win bumped their record up to 4-6-1. As for Chugiak, they now have a losing record of 1-2-1.

Ketchikan will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair will be back at it again later today.
