Basketball Recap: Daniyah Burton Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Carson

Central Cabarrus won the last time they faced Carson and things went their way on Thursday too. The Central Cabarrus Vikings managed a 45-40 victory over the Carson Cougars.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central Cabarrus to victory, but perhaps none more so than Daniyah Burton, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. Burton is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last ten games she's played. Another player making a difference was Louella Blanchard, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points.

Despite the defeat, Carson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Rylee Hedrick dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Hedrick a new career-high in assists (four).

Central Cabarrus' win bumped their record up to 7-10. As for Carson, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-15 record this season.

Central Cabarrus didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 63-48 loss against East Rowan on the 24th. As for Carson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 62-53 victory against West Rowan on the 24th.
