Basketball Recap: Suffolk Christian Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Luke Ott and Jason Hernandez

Suffolk Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 57-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Terra Ceia Christian. While Suffolk Christian Academy didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Terra Ceia Christian 13-8 in the first quarter.

Jason Hernandez and Luke Ott certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Hernandez went 10-for-13 on his way to 23 points in addition to six boards and three steals, while Ott posted 19 points. That was a full 39.6% of Suffolk Christian Academy's points, marking the 14th time in a row Ott has earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nathan Jones, who scored four points.

Terra Ceia Christian's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Ange, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Ange has scored at least a third of Terra Ceia Christian's points. Another player making a difference was Seth Meijer, who dropped a double-double with ten points and 12 boards.

Suffolk Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Terra Ceia Christian, the win (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 19-2.

Suffolk Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Terra Ceia Christian, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 58-49 defeat against Rock Church on the 14th.
