Softball Recap: Pine Island Gets the Win

Pine Island won the last time they faced Lourdes and things went their way on Monday too. The Panthers walked away with a 9-4 win over the Eagles.

Jaedyn Voeltx made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off ten hits. Voeltx was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Teagan Barnett was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Kiley Passow was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

The victory got Pine Island back to even at 4-4. As for Lourdes, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-4.

Pine Island has already played their next contest, an 11-6 loss against Zumbrota-Mazeppa on the 21st. As for Lourdes, they will venture away from home to challenge Stewartville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed one run per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
