Basketball Preview: Ellwood Christian Eagles vs. Calhoun Tigers
Ellwood Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Calhoun Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ellwood Christian has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Monday, Ellwood Christian was beaten by the Lions 78-47.
Meanwhile, even though Greenville scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, Calhoun still came out on top. Calhoun walked away with a 65-56 victory over the Tigers.
Calhoun's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kentavius Loftin, who scored 13 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Loftin has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ladarrius Thigpen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Ellwood Christian's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-21. As for Calhoun, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.
Ellwood Christian was taken down by the Tigers 97-38 in their previous matchup last Thursday. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Calhoun's Tyler Robertson, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten assists. Now that Ellwood Christian knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
