Baseball Game Preview: Trinity Christian Academy Eagles vs. New Smyrna Beach Barracudas

The Trinity Christian Academy Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the New Smyrna Beach Barracudas at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.

On Thursday, Trinity Christian Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Father Lopez and fell 5-4. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Green Wave recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Richaun Amaro and Caden McManama did some serious damage despite the final result: Amaro scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while McManama went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double. That's the most stolen bases McManama has posted since back in April of 2024. Reilley Oglageo was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Smyrna Beach). They blew past Taylor 9-3 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Barracudas.

The team relied heavily on Landon McLain, who scored three runs while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Calamonico, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

New Smyrna Beach was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Trinity Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for New Smyrna Beach, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Trinity Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like New Smyrna Beach struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Trinity Christian Academy suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to New Smyrna Beach when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Trinity Christian Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
