Softball Recap: Salinas Has No Trouble Against Watsonville

Salinas never got on the board in their matchup on Saturday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Watsonville on Monday. They put the hurt on the Wildcatz with a sharp 15-5 win. The Cowboys not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 2nd (when they won 12-1).

Bella Machuca spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits.

On the hitting side, Salinas got a massive performance out of Gigi Rossi, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs Rossi has posted since back in April of 2024. Ava Thompson also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.

Salinas' record now sits at 12-6. As for Watsonville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-9.

Coming up, Salinas will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Palma at 4:30 p.m. The last four games the Chieftains have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Watsonville, they are taking a road trip to square off against Monterey at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
