Baseball Recap: Springs Valley's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Springs Valley had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Crawford County Wolfpack on Thursday. With that win, the Blackhawks brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.

Landon Weeks made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Springs Valley is 3-1 when Weeks allows one or fewer earned runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Weeks was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025.

In other batting news, Tanner Hall and Mackey Lowe did most of the damage at the plate: Hall went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Lowe went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three hits gave Hall a new career-high. Blake Buchanan was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Springs Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Springs Valley's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Crawford County, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Springs Valley will host Paoli at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams' pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so the Blackhawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Crawford County, they will face off against Corydon Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Wolfpack's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
